ALL GOD'S ARMOR
This text is taken from Ephesians 6:10-18 ........................
10. Finally, my brethern, be strong in the Lord, and in the power
of his might.
strong: the Greek word "Endunamoo" which means to make strong
and vigourous. "En " = denotes the idea of rest and
"dunamoo" = (inherent) power.
power: "Kratos" = force, strength, more especially manifested
power and/or dominion.
might: "Ischus" = strength, especially endowed power.
We are to be mighty, powerfull, and strong as we rest in the
endowed power of the Holy Spirit as it is manifested.
11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
wiles: "Methododeia" = the following or pursuing of orderly
and technical procedure in the handling of a subject.
12. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Principalities, powers, and rulers refers to Satan's kingdoms
and spiritual wickedness (poneria) refers to malicious persons
that expresses malice and affects others.
13. Wherefor take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye
may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done
all, to stand.
14. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of righteousness.
Truth: "Aletheia" = the unveiled reality at the basis of
and agreeing with an appearance; the manifested,
the veritable essence of matter.
Righteousness: "Dikaiosune" = the essence of conformity with
the claims of God, the standards of God, right
standing with God.
15. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
We must be thoroughly versed and rooted and grounded in the Word
of God, not only in head knowledge, but also heart knowledge.
16. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be
able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the Word of God:
Here is where most preachers stop. At this point our armor (with
the exception of the sword) is essentially defensive ...........
18. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication
for all saints.
Now there was the power behind the christian warrior. There is the
power for the offense. We are admonished to pray unceasingly with
all types of prayers and supplications ... IN THE SPIRIT. It is the
power of the Holy Spirit that empowers us and carries our prayers and
supplications to the lap of the Father Almighty.
